Instructions
Hide precut laminated shapes around the space. Children find matching pairs and discuss shape attributes.
Educator tip
Create matching pairs in the same colour to reduce confusion and focus attention on shape recognition.
Assessment
Observe and note: ability to follow two-step instructions, use of new vocabulary in context, early problem-solving strategies, and sustained shared thinking episodes. Assess against Development Matters age-band expectations. Teacher observation of student's ability to match pair shapes, identifying each by name and ability to share shape's attributes.
