Materials

• Large flashcards
• Markers
• Large poster paper
• Scissors
• Glue

Instructions

Children work together to create a large collage using shapes, discussing placement and patterns.

Educator tip

Assign roles (shape sorter, glue helper, pattern planner) to ensure all children participate actively.

Assessment

Observe and note: ability to follow two-step instructions, use of new vocabulary in context, early problem-solving strategies, and sustained shared thinking episodes. Assess against Development Matters age-band expectations. Teacher observation of student's ability to complete project with guidance and contribute to group work.
