Instructions
Children match and manipulate felt shapes on the board while discussing properties and creating scenes.
Educator tip
Prepare shapes in multiple sizes to introduce the concept that shapes remain the same regardless of size.
Assessment
Observe and note: ability to follow two-step instructions, use of new vocabulary in context, early problem-solving strategies, and sustained shared thinking episodes. Assess against Development Matters age-band expectations. Teacher observation of student's active listening, participation, and ability to name shapes.
