Instructions
USING TWO-COLOUR LACES: Thread one colour in one side, different colour in the other. 'Cross the red over the blue. Tuck the red under...' Colours make instructions clearer.
TEACHING BUNNY EARS: 'Make two loops — two bunny ears! Cross them over and tuck one through the hole. Pull both ears!' This method is easier than the wrap-around.
PRACTISING ON BOARDS: Large lacing boards with thick laces are easier than real shoes. Master it big before going small.
BEING PATIENT: This is one of the hardest fine motor skills children learn. It takes weeks or months of practice. 'You'll get it — just keep practising!'
