Instructions
TEACHING JOINING TECHNIQUES: 'Use masking tape to hold two boxes together. Wrap it around firmly.' Show different joining methods for different purposes.
ENCOURAGING PLANNING: 'Draw what you want to make first. What pieces will you need?' Planning before building develops executive function.
SUPPORTING PROBLEM-SOLVING: 'Your tower keeps falling. Why? What could make it stronger?' Guide thinking rather than fixing for them.
INTRODUCING SPLIT PINS: 'Push the split pin through both pieces and open the legs. Now it moves!' Moving parts add sophistication.
