Instructions
STARTING SHORT: Begin with very short routes (200-400m) and build gradually. 'Let's run to the tree and back!' Success with short distances builds confidence.
PACING: 'Don't sprint at the start! Run gently so you can keep going the whole way.' Teaching pacing is as important as fitness.
RUNNING TOGETHER: Run alongside children. 'Keep going! Nearly halfway! The finish is just around the corner!' Encouragement sustains effort.
CELEBRATING COMPLETION: 'You ran the whole way without stopping! That's amazing!' Finishing is the achievement, not speed or position.
