- Shows iterative thinking
Materials
- A4 paper
- Step-by-step folding cards
- Measuring tape
- Target hoops
Instructions
TEACHING PRECISE FOLDS: 'Match the edges exactly. Press the fold firmly from one end to the other.' Precise folds make better aeroplanes — this motivates accuracy!
FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS: Show step-by-step. 'Fold here. Now here. Turn it over. Fold again.' Sequential instruction-following alongside motor practice.
TESTING AND MODIFYING: 'How far did yours fly? What happens if you make the wings bigger? Smaller? Try folding the tips up!' Iterative design develops thinking.
COMPETITIONS: 'Whose flies furthest? Whose is most accurate? Whose does the best loop?' Different competitions value different designs.
