SUPERVISING CLOSELY: Stay within arm's reach. Let children attempt the climb but be ready to steady them if they wobble.
TEACHING TECHNIQUE: Show how to climb safely: 'Hold on here. Put your foot up. Now the other foot.' Teach coming down too — backwards is safest for steps.
GRADING CHALLENGE: Start with very low steps and gentle slopes. Increase height and steepness as confidence grows.
ENCOURAGING PERSISTENCE: 'Nearly there! One more step!' Celebrate reaching the top: 'You climbed all the way up!'
