Instructions
DEMONSTRATING TECHNIQUE: Show children how to hold the lace in one hand and the bead in the other: 'Push the lace through the hole — poke it through! Now pull!' Keep instructions simple and visual.
STARTING WITH EASY BEADS: Use the largest beads with widest holes first. Stiff-ended laces (dipped in glue and dried) are easier than floppy ones.
SITTING ALONGSIDE: Thread your own string while children work. This models persistence and gives you opportunities to chat: 'I'm choosing a red one next.'
BUILDING COMPLEXITY: Progress to smaller beads, then introduce pattern sequences: 'Red, blue, red, blue — what comes next?'
