Instructions
PREPARING FOR MESS: Cover surfaces and the child. Use edible or baby-safe paints for the youngest. The focus is on sensory exploration, not creating artwork.
MODELLING MARKS: Dip your own fingers in paint and make marks: 'Look — my finger makes a line! My palm makes a print!' Show different movements.
ENCOURAGING EXPLORATION: Let babies smear, pat, and swirl. Don't direct — observe what they do naturally. Some will pat with flat palms; others will poke with single fingers.
NAMING BODY PARTS: 'You're using your fingers! Look at your thumb print! Your whole hand made that big mark!' Building body awareness alongside motor skills.
