Instructions
SHOWING THE ACTION: Demonstrate pushing a peg in firmly: 'Hold the peg at the top, find a hole, and push — click!' The satisfying click motivates repetition.
BUILDING FINGER STRENGTH: This activity specifically targets the tripod muscles. Encourage using thumb, index, and middle finger to hold pegs.
ADDING COLOUR INTEREST: 'Can you put all the red ones in a row?' Simple sorting by colour adds cognitive challenge to the motor task.
EXTENDING TO PATTERNS: For more confident children: 'Red, yellow, red, yellow — what comes next?' Pattern work alongside motor practice.
