Instructions
1. Place soft helper toys within baby's reach.
2. Encourage grasping by moving toys gently.
3. Name the helper as baby touches it.
4. Allow free exploration and mouthing.
Educator tip
Ensure all toys are safe for mouthing with no small parts.
Assessment
Observe and note: sustained engagement, sensory responses, early vocalisations, and attachment behaviours. Document using the Characteristics of Effective Learning framework (Playing and Exploring). Observe grasp development, transfer between hands, and sustained interest.
