Instructions
1. Set up a shallow water bin.
2. Add toy dishes or play vegetables.
3. Show how to wash: 'Chefs wash vegetables!'
4. Let toddlers splash and explore freely.
Educator tip
Use waterproof smocks and towels. Supervise closely.
Assessment
Observe and note: sustained engagement, sensory responses, early vocalisations, and attachment behaviours. Document using the Characteristics of Effective Learning framework (Playing and Exploring). Observe sensory engagement, pouring attempts, and language use.
