Laminated helper pictures
Soft helper toys placed at distance

Instructions

1. Place helper pictures or toys a short distance away.

2. Encourage: 'Can you get the firefighter?'

3. Celebrate arrival with praise and play.

4. Gradually increase distance as skills develop.

Position yourself at the target to provide additional motivation.

Assessment

Observe and note: sustained engagement, sensory responses, early vocalisations, and attachment behaviours. Document using the Characteristics of Effective Learning framework (Playing and Exploring). Observe crawling technique, motivation, and persistence.
