Objectives
- Match 3-4 tools to the correct community helper picture
Materials
- Large helper picture cards
- Toy tools (stethoscope, fire hose, spatula, hammer)
Instructions
1. Lay out 3-4 helper pictures.
2. Hold up one tool: 'Who uses this?'
3. Help children place tools on correct helper.
4. Name each tool and its purpose.
Educator tip
Start with just 2 helpers and add more as children master the activity.
Assessment
Observe and note: ability to follow two-step instructions, use of new vocabulary in context, early problem-solving strategies, and sustained shared thinking episodes. Assess against Development Matters age-band expectations. Count correct matches out of 4. Note if child can name the tool.
