Instructions
Build excitement: 'We're going on a mini-beast safari! Let's look under logs and leaves. Be very gentle—we don't want to scare them!'
Model description when you find something: 'Oh look! A woodlouse! It's so tiny! It has lots of little legs. It's curling up into a ball—it's frightened!'
Encourage children to describe: 'What did you find? What colour is it? Is it big or small? Where was it hiding? What is it doing?'
Use identification cards: 'Does it look like a spider? Let's count its legs. One, two, three… eight legs! Spiders have eight legs!'
