Materials

Instructions

Explore complex emotions beyond basics: jealousy, embarrassment, disappointment, guilt, pride. Match advanced strategies to different emotions and situations. Practise being regulation coaches for peers, helping them identify and manage emotions. Develop personalized regulation plans.

Educator tip

Validate complex emotions as normal—jealousy, embarrassment, etc. are all part of human experience.

Assessment

Assess against Early Learning Goals (ELGs). Document evidence of 'expected' or 'exceeding' descriptors. Note: independent application of skills, ability to explain reasoning, and capacity to build on prior learning. Observe recognition of complex emotions, strategy matching, and peer coaching ability.
