Instructions

DEMONSTRATING GRIP: Show how to squeeze tweezers with thumb and fingers: 'Squeeze together to grab, open to release.' This is the same muscle action as pencil grip.

GRADING DIFFICULTY: Start with large tongs and pompoms (easy to grip). Progress to tweezers and smaller objects.

ADDING PURPOSE: 'Sort the colours into the ice cube tray!' 'Feed the hungry monster (box) only the red ones!' Purposeful tasks sustain attention.

MAKING IT COMPETITIVE (OPTIONAL): 'How many can you pick up in one minute?' Some children thrive on challenge; others prefer open-ended play.
