Instructions
INTRODUCING TOOLS ONE AT A TIME: Show how each tool works: 'Push the rolling pin back and forth to flatten the dough.' Let children experiment with one tool before introducing another.
MODELLING KNIFE SKILLS: Show how to hold a plastic knife and cut: 'Hold the knife here, press down, and pull through.' This is a key self-care skill for mealtimes.
ENCOURAGING THE GARLIC PRESS: Pushing dough through a garlic press requires significant hand strength. 'Squeeze really hard! Look — worms are coming out!' Excellent for grip strength.
CREATING SCENARIOS: 'Let's make a pizza — roll it flat, cut out toppings!' Purposeful play sustains engagement longer than aimless manipulation.
