DEVELOPING TECHNIQUE: Show how to press bricks firmly: 'Push down until you hear a click!' and how to pull apart: 'Twist and pull!' Both actions build finger strength.
ENCOURAGING PLANNING: 'What are you going to build? What pieces do you need?' Planning before building develops executive function alongside motor skills.
MODELLING COMPLEX BUILDS: Build alongside children, thinking aloud: 'I need a long piece here for the bridge. Now two short ones for the towers.'
VALUING THEIR CREATIONS: 'Tell me about your building!' Display constructions. Take photos for learning journeys.
