Instructions
TEACHING LETTER FAMILIES: Group letters by formation: c, a, d, g, o, q (curly caterpillar); l, i, t, u, j, y (long ladder); r, n, m, h, b, k, p (one-armed robot). This systematic approach aids memory.
MODELLING LEAD-IN STROKES: 'Start on the line, curve up, then form the letter.' Consistent starting points prepare for joined writing later.
PRACTISING ON LINES: Use books with clear baselines, midlines, and ascender lines. 'Your letter sits on the line, reaches up to here.'
PROVIDING REGULAR SHORT SESSIONS: Daily 10-minute sessions are more effective than weekly long ones. Little and often embeds motor memory.
