Instructions
MAKING MEALTIMES SOCIAL: Position highchairs so babies can see each other. Sit at their level. Chat about the food: 'Look at your carrots! They're orange! Yummy carrots for lunch.'
ENCOURAGING SELF-FEEDING: Offer finger foods alongside spoon-feeding. Let babies explore: 'You're picking up the banana! You're feeding yourself!' Mess is learning—don't rush to clean.
RESPECTING APPETITE: Never force feeding. Watch for cues: turning head away, clamping mouth, pushing food. 'You're telling me you've had enough. That's okay. Your tummy knows.'
MODELLING EATING: Sit and eat with babies when possible. Model chewing, drinking, using utensils. 'Mmm, I'm eating my sandwich. It's delicious!' Social eating is powerful.
