Objectives

Ask and answer simple interview questions about community helpers

Question cards with pictures

Instructions

1. Teach 3-4 interview questions: 'What is your job?', 'How do you help people?'

2. One child plays the helper, another the reporter.

3. Practise asking questions clearly.

4. Record or write down answers.

5. Switch roles.

Model complete sentences when answering questions.

Assessment

Assess against Early Learning Goals (ELGs). Document evidence of 'expected' or 'exceeding' descriptors. Note: independent application of skills, ability to explain reasoning, and capacity to build on prior learning. Evaluate question formulation, listening to answers, and turn-taking skills.
