Favourite Helper Graph
Creating graphs introduces data collection and comparison skills.

Objectives
- Create a class graph of favourite community helpers and interpret results
Materials
- Large graph paper
- Helper stickers
- Class roster
Instructions
1. List 4-5 helper options on the graph.
2. Each child places their sticker by their favourite.
3. Count stickers in each column together.
4. Ask: 'Which has most? Least? Same?'
5. Write sentences about the data.
Educator tip
Take a photo of the graph for children to reference later.
Assessment
Assess against Early Learning Goals (ELGs). Document evidence of 'expected' or 'exceeding' descriptors. Note: independent application of skills, ability to explain reasoning, and capacity to build on prior learning. Observe counting accuracy and ability to compare quantities using vocabulary (more, fewer, same).
