Instructions
Choose a well-known story with three or four clear events. Show the picture cards jumbled up: 'Oh no! Our story is all mixed up! Can you help me put it in order?'
Model using sequence language: 'First, Goldilocks went into the house. Then she tried the porridge. After that, she fell asleep.' Point to each card as you speak.
Invite children to peg cards themselves: 'What happened first? Can you find that picture and peg it on?' Support their fine motor skills with the pegs.
Once ordered, retell together using the washing line as a visual prompt. Celebrate: 'You told the whole story! First, then, and last!'
