Teddy Bear's Picnic

Materials
- Selection of soft toys and dolls
- Picnic blanket, plates, cups, pretend food
- Small baskets for carrying items
Instructions
Set the scene enthusiastically: 'The teddies are hungry! Shall we make them a lovely picnic? What food shall we bring?' Let children choose and name foods.
Model polite language through teddy: 'Teddy says please may I have some cake? Thank you! Teddy, would you like juice or milk?' Encourage children to 'ask' their teddies.
Use the picnic to practise social phrases: 'Would you like some more? Yes please! No thank you. Shall we share?' Make it feel natural, not forced.
Extend vocabulary: 'This sandwich is delicious! That means it tastes really, really yummy. Is your teddy's cake delicious too?'
