Instructions
Tell a simple story with sound effects: 'One rainy day, a little bear went for a walk [tap blocks for footsteps]. The rain started to fall [shake rice]. Then thunder boomed! [bang tray] The bear ran home fast! [tap blocks quickly]'
Let children take over sounds: 'You make the rain sound when I say rain! Ready? It started to… RAIN!' Children shake the rice.
Ask 'What sound should we use for the wind? The birds? The car?' Let children suggest and experiment with sound-making.
Retell the story and ask children to listen for their cue: 'Listen carefully for your word! When I say thunder, you bang the tray!'
