Instructions
Refresh the table regularly with seasonal treasures. Introduce new items with wonder: 'Look what I found on my walk! It's a conker! Feel how smooth and shiny it is.'
Model rich descriptions: 'This feather is so soft and light. It floats when I drop it! The pinecone is prickly and brown. Can you feel the difference?'
Ask open questions: 'What does it feel like? Where do you think it came from? What animal might have used this?' Extend children's thinking.
Encourage comparisons: 'Which is heavier—the stone or the feather? Which is rougher—the bark or the shell?' Build comparative vocabulary.
