Wind-Up Toy Conversations

Materials
- Collection of wind-up toys (animals, vehicles, characters)
- Flat surface or ramp
- Obstacle course from blocks
Instructions
Build anticipation: 'I'm winding it up… ready? Where do you think it will go? Let's watch!' Release the toy and narrate: 'It's walking! It's going forwards! Now it's turning!'
Encourage predictions: 'If I put this block here, what will happen? Will the toy go round it or bump into it? Let's see!'
Model movement language: 'The penguin is waddling! Waddle waddle waddle! The car is zooming—zoom! What sound does your toy make?'
Create stories: 'The little dog is going on an adventure! Where is he going? To the park? What will he do there?'
