Set up with children: 'We're going to make a garden centre! What do they sell? Flowers! Seeds! Pots! Let's set it all out.' Build vocabulary through preparation.
Be a customer: 'Hello! I'd like to buy a flower for my mum. Which one do you recommend? Is this one easy to look after?' Encourage children to respond as shopkeepers.
Name plants and parts: 'These are the petals—the pretty coloured parts. This is the stem—it holds the flower up. Can you see the leaves?'
Extend to planting: 'I bought some seeds! How do I plant them? Put them in the soil? Then water them? Tell me what to do!'
