Action Verbs Songs

Materials
- Open space for movement
- Action picture cards
- Music with action instructions
Instructions
Start with 'If You're Happy and You Know It' using varied actions: 'Clap your hands! Stamp your feet! Jump up high! Spin around!' Model each action clearly.
Play freeze games: 'When the music plays, you dance! When it stops—FREEZE! Now… jump! Now… crawl! Now… tiptoe!' Children respond to verb commands.
Show action cards and ask children to do the action: 'What's the person doing in this picture? Jumping! Can you jump? Jump jump jump!'
Reverse it: perform an action and ask 'What am I doing?' to encourage children to name the verb: 'You're hopping! Hop hop hop!'
