Animal Sound Lotto
To develop listening skills and sound discrimination by matching animal sounds to pictures.

Materials
- Animal sound lotto boards with clear photographs
- Audio recordings of farmyard and wild animals
- Counters or tokens for marking
Instructions
Introduce each animal sound one at a time, giving children plenty of time to listen before guessing. Say 'Listen carefully… what animal makes that sound?' and wait.
Model the sounds yourself with exaggerated mouth shapes. Let children copy you: 'Moo! Can you say moo? That's a cow sound!'
When a child identifies a sound, celebrate: 'Brilliant listening! You heard the duck. Quack quack! Can you find the duck on your board?'
Extend by asking 'Where might you see a cow? What does a cow eat?' to build connected vocabulary.
