Objectives

Materials

• Alphabet cards with clown designs
• Letter matching board
• Magnetic letters

Instructions

1. Introduce clown-themed letter cards.

2. Practise naming letters and their sounds.

3. Match uppercase and lowercase pairs.

4. Find letters in children's names that match clown letters.

Start with letters in children's own names for personal connection.

Assessment

Observe and note: ability to follow two-step instructions, use of new vocabulary in context, early problem-solving strategies, and sustained shared thinking episodes. Assess against Development Matters age-band expectations. Monitor letter recognition and sound association.
