2. Practise marching in place, then around the room.

3. Add instruments to keep the beat.

4. Follow tempo changes—fast march, slow march.

Use a drum to emphasize the beat and help children stay together.

Observe and note: ability to follow two-step instructions, use of new vocabulary in context, early problem-solving strategies, and sustained shared thinking episodes. Assess against Development Matters age-band expectations. Observe rhythm following and movement control.
