Personal Manifesto Creation

Creating a personal manifesto crystallizes character commitments and provides a reference for decision-making.

Objectives

Materials

Instructions

Explore what manifestos are: declarations of beliefs and commitments. Study age-appropriate examples of manifestos and personal creeds. Brainstorm personal beliefs: What do I believe about how to treat people? What am I committed to? What principles guide my life? Write personal manifestos using powerful, first-person language. Present manifestos and display prominently as personal references.

Educator tip

Manifestos should be personal and genuine—not what children think adults want to hear. Encourage authentic voice.

Assessment

Assess against Early Learning Goals (ELGs). Document evidence of 'expected' or 'exceeding' descriptors. Note: independent application of skills, ability to explain reasoning, and capacity to build on prior learning. Observe manifesto content, writing quality, and commitment to stated principles.
