Instructions
Plan a culminating Character Graduation ceremony that celebrates the year's growth. Prepare personalized certificates recognising each child's specific character development. Create opportunities for children to share their growth journeys: brief speeches, portfolio presentations, or video reflections. Include family and other stakeholders in the celebration. Culminate with commitments to continued character development. End with celebration: music, dancing, refreshments. Send children forth as 'Character Champions' ready to continue their journeys.
Educator tip
Make this genuinely celebratory—children should feel proud of their growth. Focus on how far they've come, not how far they still have to go.
Assessment
Assess against Early Learning Goals (ELGs). Document evidence of 'expected' or 'exceeding' descriptors. Note: independent application of skills, ability to explain reasoning, and capacity to build on prior learning. Observe participation in ceremony, quality of growth articulation, and expressed commitment to continued development.
