Objectives
- Teach character concepts to peers
- Develop explaining skills
- Reinforce own learning through teaching
Materials
- Teaching preparation materials

Instructions
Assign children to become 'experts' on specific character concepts. Prepare to teach: what's the key idea? How will I explain it? What activity will help others learn? Teach peers through mini-lessons. Receive feedback on teaching effectiveness. Reflect on what was learned through teaching.
Educator tip
Scaffold lesson preparation carefully—teaching is hard! Provide templates and examples.
Assessment
Assess against Early Learning Goals (ELGs). Document evidence of 'expected' or 'exceeding' descriptors. Note: independent application of skills, ability to explain reasoning, and capacity to build on prior learning. Observe teaching quality, peer learning, and reflection on teaching experience.
