- Unit: EYFS Champions of Character
- Learning area: Socio-Emotional
- Level: EYFS Reception
Objectives
- Understand conflict as opportunity
- Transform conflicts into relationship growth
- Facilitate transformative conflict resolution
Materials
- Conflict transformation framework
- Case studies
- Practise scenarios
Instructions
Introduce the idea that conflicts, handled well, can strengthen relationships and deepen understanding. Learn transformation questions: What can I learn from this? How can we grow closer through this? What needs aren't being met? Practise transformative conflict conversations that seek understanding rather than just ending the conflict. Reflect on conflicts that led to growth.
Educator tip
This is advanced work—children need solid conflict resolution skills before moving to transformation. Build on earlier learning.
Assessment
Assess against Early Learning Goals (ELGs). Document evidence of 'expected' or 'exceeding' descriptors. Note: independent application of skills, ability to explain reasoning, and capacity to build on prior learning. Observe transformation mindset, quality of transformative conversations, and relationship growth through conflict.
