ASKING BIG QUESTIONS: Use stimulus pictures or stories, then ask: 'Is it ever okay to break a rule?' 'What makes someone a good friend?' 'Can you be happy and sad at the same time?'
FACILITATING NOT DIRECTING: Don't give answers. Guide thinking: 'That's interesting! Why do you think that? Does anyone think differently? Can someone build on what Leo said?'
TEACHING THINKING SKILLS: 'Let's think about this carefully. Is that always true? Can you think of a time when it might be different? What evidence do you have?'
VALUING ALL CONTRIBUTIONS: 'There are no wrong answers in philosophy! Every idea helps us think. Elena's idea made me think of something new. That's what great thinkers do!'
