Instructions
TEACHING SELF-ASSESSMENT: 'After your work, think: how did I do? Did I try my best? Green smiley = I'm proud of this! Yellow = I tried but it was hard. Red = I need more help.'
FOCUSING ON EFFORT: 'Your self-assessment should be about your EFFORT, not whether it's perfect. If you tried really hard, that's green smiley even if it was tricky!'
DISCUSSING CHOICES: 'You gave yourself a yellow smiley. Tell me about that. What was hard? What could help next time? I appreciate your honesty—that takes courage!'
CELEBRATING GROWTH: 'Look—last month you gave yourself red for writing. Now you're giving yourself green! You can see your own GROWTH! That's amazing self-awareness!'
