Instructions
CHOOSING ACCESSIBLE TOPICS: Pick topics children care about: 'Should we have longer playtime?' 'Is it better to have a cat or a dog?' 'Should we eat pudding before dinner?' Engaging topics motivate participation.
TEACHING RESPECTFUL DISAGREEMENT: 'It's okay to disagree! You can say: I think differently because... You DON'T say: That's wrong! Everyone's opinion matters, even if we disagree.'
STRUCTURING THE DEBATE: 'Everyone who thinks cats are better, stand here. Everyone who thinks dogs are better, stand there. Now let's hear why! This side first, then that side.'
REFLECTING ON THE PROCESS: 'We had different opinions and we listened to each other! No one was right or wrong—they were just different views. That's what respectful people do!'
