Materials
- Visual cue cards
- Pictures of actions (jump, wave, sit)
Instructions
Show a card and model an action. Encourage the child to copy it. Celebrate each successful imitation.
Educator tip
Keep commands simple and consistent ('Can you wave like this?').
Assessment
Observe and note: ability to follow two-step instructions, use of new vocabulary in context, early problem-solving strategies, and sustained shared thinking episodes. Assess against Development Matters age-band expectations. Watch for understanding and participation in action imitation.
