Materials
- Nature sound recordings
- Drum or rainstick
- Open play space
Instructions
Play a nature sound (wind, water, animals). Ask children to move like what they hear (float, stomp, wiggle).
Educator tip
Join the dance and narrate the movements.
Assessment
Observe and note: ability to follow two-step instructions, use of new vocabulary in context, early problem-solving strategies, and sustained shared thinking episodes. Assess against Development Matters age-band expectations. Monitor movement variety and responsiveness to rhythm.
