Instructions
Place toys just out of infants' reach. Encourage crawling and reaching. Use mirrors to engage visual interest.
Educator tip
Narrate the baby's actions aloud to support language development.
Assessment
Observe and note: ability to follow two-step instructions, use of new vocabulary in context, early problem-solving strategies, and sustained shared thinking episodes. Assess against Development Matters age-band expectations. Observe coordination in reaching and crawling. Monitor engagement with toys and mirrors.
