Instructions
Set the scene: 'Poor Teddy is so tired! He needs to go to bed. Can you help? First, wash his face, then put on his pyjamas.' Give two instructions at once.
If the child completes just one, gently remind: 'You washed his face—brilliant! What was the next thing? Can you remember? Put on his…?' Support without simply repeating.
Gradually increase complexity: 'Brush his teeth, then read him a story, then tuck him in.' Celebrate each successful sequence.
Let children give YOU instructions: 'Now you tell me what to do! What should I do first?' This reversal strengthens their command of instructional language.
