Instructions
Research environmental issues at local and global levels. Choose an issue to advocate about. Develop advocacy plans: who to influence, what message, what action. Take age-appropriate environmental action: letters to leaders, classroom campaigns, family pledges. Track impact of advocacy efforts.
Educator tip
Focus on hope and agency—children can feel overwhelmed by environmental problems. Emphasize: 'Your actions matter!'
Assessment
Assess against Early Learning Goals (ELGs). Document evidence of 'expected' or 'exceeding' descriptors. Note: independent application of skills, ability to explain reasoning, and capacity to build on prior learning. Observe research quality, advocacy planning, and action implementation.
