Happily Ever After Book Making
Creating personal books helps children see themselves as authors while reviewing and consolidating week's learning.
- Framework: IPC
- Unit: Fairytales
- Learning area: Language Arts
- Level: Infant & Toddler
Objectives
- Develops early literacy concepts
- Encourages reflection on learning
- Creates keepsake for families
Materials
- Construction paper (folded as books)
- Photos from the week's activities
- Stickers and stamps
- Crayons for decoration
- Yarn or ribbon for binding
Instructions
Create simple books with folded paper. Help children add photos or drawings from the week's activities. Add stickers and decorations. Write simple captions based on children's words: 'I made a crown' or 'We found dragon eggs.' For toddlers, let them 'write' with scribbles. For infants, create the book for them to explore and take home.
Educator tip
Send these books home as gifts for families to share and read together.
Assessment
Note children's recognition of photos from activities, their contributions to the book, and their interest in the finished product.
