- Gentle instrumental music
- Drum or tambourine for rhythm
Instructions
Give each child a ribbon wand or streamer. Play gentle music and demonstrate waving the wand in different ways—up high, down low, in circles, side to side. Use a drum to create simple rhythms for children to follow. Encourage phrases like 'Wave your magic wand!' and 'Make a circle in the air!' For infants, gently wave the wand while they watch the movement.
Educator tip
Ensure wands have soft, flexible handles and ribbons are securely attached to prevent choking hazards.
Assessment
Note children's ability to follow movement cues, their rhythm awareness, and their creative variations in waving patterns.
