Instructions
SETTING UP THE SPACE: Create an appealing, well-resourced calm space. It should feel like a positive choice, not a punishment. 'This is our relaxation station—a special place for when your body needs to be calm.'
TEACHING WHEN TO USE IT: 'When your body feels jangly, your heart beats fast, or your feelings are very big, the relaxation station can help. You can choose to go there anytime.'
PROVIDING STRATEGY CARDS: Include visual cards: 1) Squeeze the stress ball 2) Watch the sensory bottle 3) Breathe with the breathing card 4) Listen to calm music 5) Cuddle the weighted blanket.
CELEBRATING SELF-REGULATION: 'You noticed your body needed to be calm and you chose to go to the relaxation station! That's SO grown-up! How do you feel now? Better? Amazing!'
