Instructions
EXPLAINING THE CONCEPT: 'A constitution is a special agreement about how we'll treat each other. Countries have them and WE can have one too! Let's decide together.'
DEMOCRATIC PROCESS: 'I have some ideas and you have some ideas. Let's vote! Put your hand up if you think kind words should be in our constitution. That's democracy—everyone gets a say!'
INCLUDING RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 'We have the right to feel safe. Our responsibility is to keep each other safe. Rights and responsibilities go together.'
LIVING THE CONSTITUTION: Reference it regularly: 'Is this following our constitution? We agreed to include everyone. Is everyone included right now? What do we need to change?'
